For immediate release: Ripple Effects for Teens Finalist for Best Special Needs San Francisco, CA - January 05, 2002 - Ripple Effects Ripple Effects for Teens software was named a finalist in the prestigious Codie Awards, sponsored by the Software & Information Industry Association. The Codies showcase the finest products and services in the software and information industry. Ripple Effects for Teens was named in the category of Best Special Needs Software. It addresses today's number one special needs issue: social-emotional disabilities and the behavior problems that result. And, it works. A 2000 study by researchers from Columbia and NYU showed the Ripple Effects program for teens dramatically reduced aggressive behavior, increased prosocial behavior, and resulted in fewer remedial summer school referrals. In competing for the 2002 awards, Ripple Effects is proud to be up against some of the best--and biggest--names in educational publishing. "We're proud that our tiny ten person company can produce software that competes for awards with huge companies like Encyclopedia Britannica, Apple Computer, and McGraw-Hill," says Sarah Berg, Ripple Effects COO, who produced the software. This is the 15th major award for Ripple Effects family of social learning programs, which have also received Best of Show at the Technology Games sponsored by the Department of Health & Human Services, a Technology & Learning Software Award of Excellence, the National Educational Media Network Silver Apple, the Cindy Award for Guidance, Values, and Career Information, the Creative Summit Award for Educational Software, and, several other Codie nominations.
