Ripple Effects for Teens matches
National Health Literacy Standards and Frameworks. Users of the
Relate program respond to specific life challenges, explore health-related
topics that suit their interests, learning styles, and particular needs,
and/or receive systematic skill training in
seven key abilities that have been positively correlated with healthy
life choices and negatively correlated with violence, drug and alcohol
abuse, teen pregnancy, STDs, and risk taking. Each of the seven key
abilities is addressed through many content areas. As students explore
each one, they acquire the knowledge and skills that are essential to
the development of health literacy. In addition, by following their
interests in exploring the hundreds of challenge topics, they acquire
additional information and skills that can help them.
