Between 1982-90, Alice Ray traveled to 15 states and four countries, speaking on Social Learning and prevention issues. During that time she interviewed hundreds of teachers, administrators, business people, community members and parents about their concerns:
One theme recurred over and over:
There are too many social topics, to be covered in too few hours, with too many kids - and employees - who have too many different learning needs.
Educators expressed a desire for a comprehensive, skill based, Social Learning program that:
- doesn't go out of date when social fads change
- reflects the whole spectrum of learners in today's classrooms and workplaces
- can be flexibly used proactively and reactively
- includes audio visual materials right in the package
- appeals to different learning styles and intelligences
- is engaging and easy to use
- can be adapted to fit within local standards and values.
Ripple Effects' designed its Social Learning Software Application in response to these demands.
