Using audio on the student survey

Students have the option of hearing the survey questions read aloud to them. For this to work, you need a fast connection to the internet, and the right software (Flash 6 or later).

Even with a fast connection, it can take up to 30 seconds for the page to download and be ready to use. And, there may be a small lag of a few seconds between when you click the audio button, and when you hear the audio.

Make sure you know if your system can handle audio before directing students to the audio version of the survey. We recommend testing it yourself first. If you do decide to use the page with audio, please let students know to expect pauses in the playback.

If you're not sure, tell them to use the version without audio--it will work faster, on any system.

When students sign in to take the survey, they are given the choice (no audio, audio). Direct them to the appropriate version.
