Promoting Respect, Stopping Hate is a multimedia application to address prejudice and bias activities among teens. It offers middle and high school students training in appreciating diversity, and targeted intervention for bias incident offenders. This program was produced by Ripple Effects, and is made available free of charge by Partners Against Hate.
The program covers 73 topics, and includes interactive self-assessments, interactive games to measure concept mastery, and true video stories of other youth and how they addressed these challenges. Nearly all the material in the program is read aloud by peer voices. It includes built-in curricula for both universal prevention, and targeted intervention.
The Promoting Respect unit influences attitudes, and builds key skills. The Stopping Hate unit includes a flexible program for intervening with students who have been involved in a bias incident. The program is designed to lead students through a process by which they: understand their own actions, build skills in managing feelings and controlling impulses, and make things right.
