The Contra Costa Times - October 14th 1999 Can teens learn compassion in cyberspace? Can software prevent the next school shooting? It's possible, say the founders of San Francisco-based Ripple Effects, who've created Ripple Effects for Teens, an interactive software program that teaches teens alternative ways of dealing with problems that were unimaginable a generation ago, from date-rape drugs to school violence. The program poses more than 600 challenges and suggests solutions. Not everything is horrendous-in addition to addressing tough issues like divorce, there are also more ordinary struggles of teenhood, from zits to being unpopular.
